What's wrong?
You expect the user to tap the link and land on the right page in the Instagram app. In reality they're sent to the browser and asked to log in to the web version. Almost no one does. That's about 90% of all clicks on your ad.
So what is a deeplink?
Deep linking is a way to move between apps and land users on a specific screen. It's the "right" link that takes the person into the app instead of the browser – to the page you want.
When to use deeplinks?
Use deeplinks when you need to send users to a specific Instagram profile. Also during ad testing: run split tests, try different audiences and headlines. Once you find the winning ad, scale it with a normal budget.
Platform differences
Deeplinks behave differently on Android and iOS.
On Android the user is taken straight to the app. On iOS a dialog appears: open in Instagram? The user has to confirm within 30 seconds, or the profile loads in the browser instead.
How to create deeplinks?
We built this in a new service. Mobzio – deeplink and multi-link builder.
We don't limit traffic on your deeplinks. You can use your own domain and add Yandex.Metrika or Google Analytics.
